Tested My New Tent – A Mini Bikepacking Adventure in Skåne

Bikepacking Gravel Overnighter Sweden Camping Tent Big Agnes

I recently got myself a new tent. A tent that I’d been eyeing for a while as the next piece in my bikepacking setup. But with life being busy and a new puppy demanding attention, I hadn’t had the chance to properly try it out.

Still, the itch to test new gear was too strong, so I made time for a quick overnighter. Because overnighters are fun! It turned into a mini bikepacking adventure in Sweden. But nothing grand, just something close to home.

A Mini Bikepacking Escape in Southern Sweden

And mini it truly was. I packed my gravel bike and set out into the countryside of Skåne, just 25 kilometers from my doorstep. Southern Sweden is experiencing a late spring-slash-summer this year. Even in late May, trees are just beginning to blossom and the meadows are slowly coming back to life. It was the perfect moment to sneak in a quick overnighter, soak up the fresh air, and see how the new tent would perform in slightly unpredictable weather.

Cold Nights and Camp Cooking on a Bikepacking Trip

When it comes to outdoor cooking, I’m famously lazy. No fancy camping meals here. Instead, I brought a long-forgotten bag of chicken tikka masala. Definitely beyond its expiration date. A risky move, especially since I forgot to pack toilet paper. After a simple dinner and a podcast, I fell asleep. It was a cold night, dropping to around 3°C. I woke up at 04:30, chilly but rewarded with a stunningly starry sky, despite the weather forecast warning of light rain.

Tent Impressions from a Mini Bikepacking Adventure

The morning ritual was saved by La Cabra’s steeped coffee bags—perfect for someone who doesn’t want to fuss with brewing gear. Breakfast was made up of leftover energy bars, eaten while the sun briefly broke through the clouds. Then I rolled back home, slowly and content. As for the tent: it passed the test. Lightweight, easy to pitch, and with short pole sections that fit perfectly between my handlebars. The only downside? The footprint. It doesn’t really fit well with the inner and outer tent, which can be a bit annoying when pitching.

In the end, it wasn’t about big miles or epic views. This mini bikepacking adventure in Sweden may have been short, but it delivered everything I needed: fresh air, quiet time, and a tent test. Hopefully another one again soon!
